Grampa

I'm sure it is in our DNA. Our little troupe kept the Nut Tree Railroad solvent with our weekend excursions and no one ever tired of riding the little train out and in to the toy store. Great grampa worked for the railroad and I remember bringing him lunch and being just dazzled by the big steam engines that seemed to be so close to the platform and envied all of those people boarding and traveling to faraway places. The great event of childhood had to do with the railroad. The circus came to town every spring on a special train with 'refrigerated cars' and wonderful wagons. We got up at 4AM and joined the crowd that gathered to watch the unloading of all those exotic animals. The elephants did a lot of the work and once everything was unloaded, they pulled the wagons thru town to the athletic field where they set up. The excitement was unbearable and lasted several days.
